Applications will also be considered for appointment of experienced band 6 staff who would undergo training and evaluation to attain band 7 pay banding

Applications are invited for two permanent cardiac physiology posts based in the Cardiology Department, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The echo service is recruiting as part of a wider cardiology service expansion.  We invite hard-working, competent and motivated individuals to become part of our busy and friendly echo team.  Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is a busy tertiary centre, with 900 beds and a catchment area population of 600,000.

The positions are for experienced echocardiographers who must be able to demonstrate expertise in advanced techniques such as TOE, stress and contrast echo, adult congenital echocardiography and 3/4D imaging.

The successful candidates should hold BSE adult proficiency accreditation, have Professional registration and a BSc in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology), although an equivalent qualification along with suitable knowledge, training and experience will be considered.

Experienced band 6 staff will also be considered for the posts.  Upon appointment they will undergo a period of at least 12 months training and assessment prior to upgrading to band 7.

Although the posts are based in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI), there will be occasions when the post holders will be required to work at other hospitals within NHS Grampian and NHS Orkney.

In addition to routine cardiology clinics there is a specialist valve clinic, a heart failure clinic, GUCH (Grown up Congenital heart Disease clinic) and a Physiologist led valve disease echo clinic.

Aberdeen is a wonderful place to live and work, located on the beautiful Aberdeenshire coast and a short distance from the Grampian Mountains. The city is well served by rail, air, ferry and road links.
