Job Advert

Post Equivalent to University Teacher or Teaching Fellow

As a vital part of NHS Scotland, NHS National Services Scotland’s purpose is to support Scotland’s Health.  We do this by providing a range of specialised support services that enable NHS Boards to focus their efforts on health improvement and delivering world class patient care.
The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) Tissues, Cells & Advanced Therapeutics undertakes cutting edge research and development of new cell and gene therapies.  SNBTS also manufacture a range of tissues (eg. bone, heart valves), cells (eg. haematopoietic stem/progenitor cells) and advanced therapies (eg. regenerative macrophages, pluripotent stem cells, cytotoxic T-cells) for clinical use. These products are all manufactured in our state of the art clean room facilities according to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
In support of this development and manufacturing function, we offer an exciting opportunity to join the SNBTS TCAT group as a Training Officer.  The successful candidate will specifically be expected to work with the University of Edinburgh to establish and co-ordinate a new MSc course in Advanced Therapies Therapy Development and Manufacturing.   This online course will help address a skills gap by training staff in this rapidly moving sector.
Educated to at least MSc level, with substantial experience in the development, delivery and facilitation of student learning, you will have a relevant science background with additional teaching experience and qualification. Experience of Online Learning is highly particularly desirable. You will be highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact with NHS and University staff and with UK and international students.
Applications will be assessed against the criteria in the Person Specification.
The post will be located within the TCAT Directorate at the Jack Copland Centre on the Heriot Watt Research Park.
Our benefits package includes final salary pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the Head of Cellular Therapeutics Prof Jo Mountford, for an informal discussion about the post. Email: Joanne.mountford@nhs.scot
