This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the team delivering PET Radiopharmaceuticals to the West of Scotland. The PET Radiopharmaceutical Production Unit (PET RPU) is a licensed facility comprising cyclotron, clean rooms and associated support areas, and a Quality Control Laboratory. The unit provides a PET radiopharmaceutical service for two adjacent PET/CT scanners.

Radiopharmaceuticals are prepared and dispensed under aseptic conditions, using automated chemistry synthesis units, to full GMP standard. The PET RPU operates under a ‘manufacturing specials’ licence granted by the MHRA. This post provides quality control expertise in the delivery of PET radiopharmaceuticals allowing this specialist service to operate smoothly, safely and efficiently on a day to day basis.

You will have a Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Physics, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science or another scientific discipline. However, other appropriate disciplines & qualifications will be considered provided there is an equivalent profile of knowledge, training and experience.

Registration on the Voluntary Register for Clinical Technologists held by the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM), the Register for Pharmacy Technicians, or Pharmacists, held by the General Pharmaceutical Council, or registration with another relevant body such as the Royal Society of Chemistry is desirable.

Experience of working in a Quality Control laboratory environment is desirable as is experience of handling radioactive materials. Full training will be provided to successful applicants.

The shift pattern is; 06:00 – 14:00 (Mon – Fri), flexibility required to change work pattern when required for service / development
