Job Advert

The Co-ordinator will be responsible for co-ordinating, supporting and supervising the Highland Appropriate Adult Service and its bank staff.

The Appropriate Adult service facilitates communication when a vulnerable adult is interviewed by Police Scotland. This is a statutory requirement, to ensure the adult’s comprehension and understanding of why they are being interviewed - whether as suspect, accused, witness or alleged victim of a crime.

You should have previous experience and knowledge of supporting or working with vulnerable adults who may have a Learning Disability, Mental Health, Dementia, Autism / Aspergers or an Acquired Brain Injury.

A degree of flexibility is required to be available on occasion e.g. to debrief following a particularly distressing interview experience, or to cover for an unscheduled lack of Appropriate Adult availability. The great majority of calls are within the inner Moray Firth area and in working hours, but can be for interviews in other parts of the Highland Council area; and for interviews at any time 24/7.

You will require access to personal transport.
