Appropriate Adults are required to facilitate communication between individuals who are vulnerable adults, and Police Scotland, to ensure their comprehension and understanding of why they are being interviewed. The Appropriate Adult will be present during all police processes with the vulnerable adult who can be a suspect, an accused, the victim or a witness to a crime. Applicants should have previous experience of supporting or working with vulnerable adults who may have a Learning Disability, Mental Health, Dementia, Autism / Aspergers or an Acquired Brain Injury.

You will be contactable by telephone to provide a service when required. The Appropriate Adult service operates on a 24/7 basis and you will be asked to provide your availability on a month to month basis.   Please note that you can be contacted at any time of the day or night to carry out the role of an Appropriate Adult.   You will require access to personal transport.

The majority of calls are within the inner Moray Firth area, but can be Highland wide.  With this in mind we are seeking to recruit individuals across the Highland area
