In support of our core purpose of Working together to achieve the healthiest life possible for everyone in Ayrshire and Arran we are committed to a culture that is Caring, Safe and Respectful.  You will be required to work collaboratively in a safe, caring and respectful way.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in our specialised Acute Stroke Unit and rapid assessment TIA area. The area consists of 14 hyper acute beds, 6 acute beds and a 4 bedded rapid assessment area.  As part of UHC re-mobilisation plan, an additional 6 stroke beds are required on the UHC site until March 2021. This supports a red and green stroke pathway for patients across NHSAA.

Patients are admitted directly to the ASU directly from ED /CAU where they receive hyper-acute interventions and thrombolysis.  The area is a high dependency area providing level 2 high dependency care.

This is an exciting opportunity and staff will gain a wide range of knowledge and skills.  NHS Ayrshire and Arran are linked with NHS Lanarkshire for out of hours thrombolysis treatment.  Out of hours, telemedicine is used for thrombolysis.  This is a great opportunity to gain skills in the use of telemedicine for assessment of patients.

Staff will have excellent learning opportunities with a structured education programme.

Applicants are invited from highly motivated registered nurses with an interest to develop in this area.  Experience is desirable but not essential.  Excellent communication skills are essential and the ability to work under pressure.   You will work effectively within the multidisciplinary team ensuring the provision of evidence based care to the highest standard possible.

Applicants must be flexible and able to work variable shift patterns to meet the needs of the service.

Drive, energy and enthusiasm along with a genuine interest in the area are required.

Whilst these posts advertised are for permanent contracts the additional beds within the acute stroke service will be reviewed in March 2021.
