An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide specialist physiotherapy intervention in our MSK Outpatient departments based within Ninewells Hospital, Kings Cross Health & Community Care Centre and GP practices across Dundee.


You will work alongside an experienced team, including a 'McKenzie Institute International' senior instructor and an 'Orthopaedic Medicine International' course instructor. In addition the department runs an Orthopaedic Triage Clinic alongside a Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine Physician who has local and international experience including Olympic and Commonwealth Games.  


You should have demonstrable highly specialist clinical skills/knowledge, from postgraduate courses/in service, as evidenced in your Continued Professional Development portfolio, with comprehensive knowledge of best practice / clinical guidelines / standards across trauma, orthopaedics and general musculoskeletal conditions.


Ability to administer corticosteroid injections and request imaging would be desirable but not essential as full training will be given.


You will have a caseload incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge or onward referral, and have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of more junior staff, and students within the speciality. You will provide specialist resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers and have an active involvement in Clinical Governance, Clinical Effectiveness and Research.


Ongoing personal and professional development is essential to provide a quality service and is supported through CPD workshops, appraisals, in-service training and involvement within the Tayside Practice Development Network. This post provides the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills including MDT working, service development, audit and leadership experience.


The Physiotherapy Departments are friendly, dynamic and sociable with strong links with Universities providing student placements primarily from Edinburgh and Aberdeen. The Physiotherapy service in Tayside are dedicated to deliver the best service possible through expanding skills and knowledge, streamlining service and providing the best in patient care.
