NHS Dumfries and Galloway wish to appoint a dynamic Consultant to join the Urology Team based at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
The main aspects of the role will include:
• Provision of outpatient, inpatient, day case and diagnostic services
• Provision of emergency services in-hours and the option to join the regional on-call aligned to NHS Ayrshire and Arran
• Clinical audit
• Weekly multi-disciplinary meetings
The Department provides a core elective and emergency urology service to the Dumfries and Galloway region (population 148,000). Out-patient and cystoscopy services are provided at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary (DGRI) and the Galloway Community Hospital (GCH) in Stranraer. Elective surgery is performed at DGRI.
Diagnostic services are supported by basic static urodynamics, flow studies and transrectal ultrasound and prostate biopsy.
The Department is part of the “managed clinical network” for cancer services for the South East of Scotland. There is a teleconference link to weekly MDTs in Edinburgh.
The department is supported by NHS Ayrshire and Arran Urology department who provide support for Out of Hours emergency cases.
The region offers beautiful countryside, from rugged cliffs and sandy beaches to forests, hills and rolling plains. There is a wide range of activities on offer, with watersports, fishing, birdwatching, golf, mountain-biking or cycling along the network of rural roads and much more. House prices are low, schools are good and you are within 2 hours of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Lake District and Newcastle.
Prospective candidates will require to be on the GMC Specialist Register and will hold a CCT or be within 6 months of obtaining the certificate.
