The Victoria Day Surgery theatre and Endoscopy Suit is a modern purpose built unit consisting of 8 Theatres, 5 Endoscopy rooms and an adjacent 23hour ward area. This covers a variety of specialties including General Surgery, Urology, Orthopaedics, ophthalmology, ENT and Gynaecology.
The Department is looking to recruit a departmental co coordinator essential to the efficient running of the theatre department. This post is crucial for the day to day operational management of the Theatre service and to support the lead nurse and the perioperative staff to provide high quality patient centred care in this fast paced, diverse and developing specialty. We require a highly skilled, knowledgeable and passionate leader to ensure the safe delivery of person centred care. You will be required to lead and manage a large cohort of staff to enable this. You must also have the skills to deal with conflicting pressures in a professional and calm manner and be able to work in a highly pressured environment while maintaining a can do attitude. You must have demonstrated ability of working in a complex, multidisciplinary theatre environment. You will have excellent leadership qualities and be an effective communicator. You are required to be responsive to changing priorities taking action/escalating when necessary. You will require to support the multidisciplinary team members to take forward improvements to our service. In the absence of the Lead Nurse you would be expected to support operational, administrative and management duties. As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC/HCPC registration will be required prior to start date. You should therefore note candidates who are unable to provide confirmation of current NMC/HCPC registration, in line with projected start date for this post, may not be shortlisted for interview. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse trained in general nursing or adult nursing or a Registered Operating Department Practitioner. You should be educated to degree level or be able to demonstrate experience at this level. The shift pattern for this post is variable. .
