NHS Tayside has a number of immediate opportunities to work as part of a remote team of contact tracers, responsible for providing the first point of contact with people who have tested positive for COVID-19 and their contacts.

You will undertake telephone interviews and accurately capture all relevant data on the Case Management System (CMS).  These roles are vital in breaking the chain of transmission of COVID-19 between individuals by contacting people at risk of transmission.

The main attributes of the role are flexibility, tact, persistence, clear verbal communication skills, ability to write detailed notes and also to take responsibility for decisions, alongside understanding when decisions need to be escalated to a Team Leader or Specialist Nurse as appropriate. You must be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite and electronic information systems to support the public health management of cases.  A clinical or care background may be beneficial, but is not essential.

We are a high achieving team and aim to meet or exceed challenging targets for the proportion of cases completed within 24 hours from receipt and to always put the member of the public at the heart of what we do so that they feel cared for and have confidence in Test and Protect.  As such we strongly encourage potential applicants to consider their suitability against the following essential criteria before submitting an application:

  • You must be educated to degree level or have the equivalent experience which is relevant to the main attributes of the role detailed above.
  • You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • You must be able to work flexibly over a 37.5 hour week, 7 days from 0800-16-00, 10.00 – 1800, 1200 – 2000
  • You must be able to work from home with no or minimal disruption to your work.
  • You must be free to be interviewed via Microsoft Teams on Thursday 29th or Friday 30th October 2020.
  • You must be able to attend Dundee prior to mandatory training to present identification and to complete the practical and shadowing elements of training.

You must evidence your skillset on your application. Only those who meet all aspects of the job description and essential criteria should apply.

These posts are fixed term until 21 June 2022.
