An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Pharmacy Technician to be part of our growing team of pharmacy professionals supporting the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, South Sector Primary and Acute Care.
This is an interesting and varied role, where the pharmacy technician’s core responsibilities will cover clinical roles in acute (2 days / week) and primary care (3 days / week) to enable greater effective and efficient use of medicine. You will be at the forefront of driving better pharmacy services across the care interface.
Main duties of the job
To work alongside patients and MDT staff to ensure that there is a smooth transfer from hospital into primary care and that pharmaceutical issues are highlighted and dealt with in a timely manner.
Help patients to get the best from their medicines by using a person centred approach.
Working alongside a GP practice staff as an integrated part of the practice team, undertaking numerous medicines related activities.
Contribute to successful medicines risk management / clinical governance, to reduce wasted medicines and build capacity in the workforce at the right levels.
Contribute to the review and development of prescribing processes/protocols/SOPs to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of prescribing systems. Be responsible for encouraging the development of better understanding of the principles of medicines optimisation and promoting good practice.
The post holder will also gather information to show the benefit of the post.
Pay band 5. Daily cover Monday to Friday is required
