An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Charge Nurse to manage our Colorectal Surgical nursing team here in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

You will have overall responsibility for the assessment and delivery of person centred care needs for your patient group ensuring Clinical Governance, Staff and Financial management and Quality Assurance standards are met. You will directly manage a staff compliment of 36 Registered and Non-registered health care professionals within our ward area.

The ward is made up of 28 beds, 12 beds for Enhanced Recovery After Surgery and 16 Acute Colorectal Surgical beds. Staff development leadership, supervision and appraisal will be fundamental to this role as well as high level communication with the wider multidisciplinary team. You will be responsible to the Lead Nurse for General Surgery, Vascular and Breast and as such will also contribute to the whole service delivery working closely with the senior management team.

You will ensure there are safe robust systems of work in place to effectively manage the whole patient system flow and positive patient experience. You should be a registered nurse with a degree or equivalent and should have significant experience as a Band 6 Charge Nurse or Band 7 Senior Charge Nurse. Evidence of continuing professional development is essential and clinical knowledge of the specialty is desirable.
