An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced pharmacy technician to join our pharmacy education and training team and participate in supporting the provision of a high quality pharmaceutical service within NHS Ayrshire & Arran.
You will be the specialist pharmacy technician providing leadership, professional advice and support in relation to all aspects of pharmacy technician and supports staff’s education and training.
You will lead, develop and coordinate education and training for pharmacy technicians and support workers covering all education requirements. You will support the development and implementation of national competency frameworks, provide support for work base assessors and develop in service training.
Pharmacy Services in NHS Ayrshire & Arran are undergoing a period of transformational change and this new role will help shape the education and development of all the pharmacy technical and support staff to ensure that staff have the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to practice safely and efficiently at all levels.
You will be expected to liaise with pharmacy technicians and support workers within the hospitals, primary care and with other education pharmacy technicians across Scotland. In addition to liaise with NES and further education colleges and to represent NHS Ayrshire & Arran on national education and training related groups
You will also work closely with the pharmacists within the education and training team and initiatives to support education across the pharmacy directorate will be encouraged.
You must be a registered pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and be a SVQ work based assessor. You must hold a HNC/BTEC pharmacy services development and management qualification or equivalent, final accuracy checking qualification and a professional development award in assessment and supply of individual patient medicines
You will provide a pharmacy practice commitment as required within the service.
You will be based in the pharmacy at University Hospital Crosshouse and/or Eglinton House, Ailsa Campus working across NHS Ayrshire & Arran.

This post is a fixed term, temporary post for approx 18 months. It can be available as a secondment opportunity.

Hours of work are: 18.75 hrs per week.
