Staff Nurse – Ward 1/Day Surgery Unit/Interim Ambulatory Care (Ref: 34633)
Substantive, Full-time 37.5 hours per week
Band 5 Salary Range £25,100 - £31,649 per annum
plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,895 per annum
Relocation Assistance of up to £8000 is available
As an integrated member of the Multidisciplinary team the post holder will contribute to the effective day to day operation of NHS Shetland Day Surgery Unit (DSU) and Interim Ambulatory Care Unit (IACU). The post holder will provide skilled patient centred care to patients attending the DSU and IACU for long term condition care, undertaking pre and post operative care, biologic infusions, support to patients undertaking biologic sub-cutaneous injections, Disease Activity Scoring (DAS), Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) and assisting clinicians during the administration of, maintenance and termination of regional or local anaesthetics, also undertaking secondary recovery care of the DSU.
The post holder is required to become competent in extended nursing skills e.g. Venepuncture, Cannulation, ECG and IV Drug Administration. The post holder may undertake the role of link nurse e.g. cleanliness champion, fire safety officer role.
The post holder is required to work toil time, working flexibly Monday – Friday to cover the clinical demand of both departments.
