Specialist Nurse (Health Protection)
(from 18.75 to 37.5 hours per week to suit the applicant)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for innovative and highly motivated first level Registered Nurses to join the Health Protection Team of the Directorate of Public Health, NHS Tayside. You will play a critical part in our efforts as part of Test and Protect to break the chain of COVID transmission and supress the pandemic.
The Health Protection Team delivers the clinical element of Public Health and you will work as a member of the Consultant and Nurse-led Health Protection Team responsible for delivering specialist advice and support to those adversely affected by communicable disease and environmental hazards. The post will contribute to the Scottish Government’s Test and Protect strategy. You will provide the nursing case management vital to keeping individuals, their contacts and communities safe. You will play a key role in the multiagency Incident Management Teams (IMTs) involved in investigating incidents and outbreaks and implementing infection control measures across the community and complex settings of Tayside.
You will be a first level nurse currently registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council with extensive clinical experience in nursing with a broad range of clinical skills. You will hold a first degree in a health-related subject, or have equivalent experience and be working currently as a nurse in a healthcare setting.
You must have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, a commitment to the delivery of holistic, person-centred care is paramount. Your ability to problem solve and think on your feet is essential. You should be able to evidence an active interest in communicable disease infection prevention and control or the management of environmental hazards, leadership skills and an appetite for continuous quality improvement. Experience within the community setting is desirable.
