Job Advert

An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual to take on the role of Primary Mental Health Worker within Fife Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service.

The Primary Mental Health Worker (PMHW) is an initiative within Fife CAMHS which seeks to compliment the current provision for children and young people with mental health difficulties. The main emphasis of the team is to provide early-stage mental health assessment and interventions through liaison, consultation, supervision and training to primary care professionals. PMHW’s also provide direct and collaborative clinical interventions with children and young people whilst seeking to enable community and primary care-based professionals to effectively recognise children and young people's strengths and difficulties and the impact on mental wellbeing.
The Primary Mental Health Workers are responsible for delivering these key functions whilst assisting the team leader in developing the service in collaboration with the existing CAMHS teams and primary care partners.

In order to fulfil this role you will be confident in providing consultation, supervision and training to primary care professionals and other agencies who are engaged with children and young people in Fife. You will have skills in delivering effective training packages and will be able to provide direct input to children and families through group interventions or individual assessment and treatment to those who present with mild to moderate mental health difficulties across Fife. An essential component of this role will be the ability to develop effective relationships across agencies to ensure a partnership approach to care.

Applications are invited from staff qualified as Registered Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology (CAAP) with evidence of continuous professional development and who can demonstrate skills and competencies normally associated with significant experience in a Child & Adolescent Mental Health setting.   You will be able to work autonomously and respond to the needs of the locality which will include the ability to travel across Fife and wider as required.
