Staff Nurse - Ward 1, HDU (2 posts) (Ref: 34948)
(Rotational post requiring both day and night shift working including on call commitment)
Band 5 - Salary Range £25,100 - £31,649 per annum (pro rata)
Post 1: Full Time – 37.5 hours per week
Substantive Rotational Post
Post 2: Part-time – 21½ hours per week
Fixed term until October 2021
Our surgical care ward provides care to adult and paediatric patients from a wide range of specialities including ENT, Ophthalmology, Max Fax, Dental, Orthopaedic, paediatric, as well as general surgery. This busy, diverse ward has 22 beds and incorporates both a 2 bedded critical care area and 6 bedded day surgery unit.
As a staff nurse Ward1 /HDU/DSU will be responsible for all aspects of care for patients undergoing surgery both as emergencies and list admissions. Part of your responsibility will be to ensure the environment is safe and effective for delivery of care to adults and children. You will provide excellent care from admission to discharge. You will participate in ward audit, clinical quality indicators, safety cross data collection and patient opinion. Flexibility to work in other areas of the organisation, either hospital or community based, is also essential.
You will be a Registered General Nurse keen to obtain surgical care knowledge and experience and a willingness to undertake HDU training. Previous surgical experience would be an advantage, though not necessary. Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team are essential.
Post 2 is for a fixed term until October 2021. The reason for the fixed-term contract is maternity cover. If you wish to apply for this post as a secondment opportunity, you will need to discuss with your line manager before submitting an application.
