Death Certification Review Service

Permanent, full-time 37.5 hours

£22,700 - £24,973 (AfC Band 4)

Edinburgh or Glasgow (*remote working required)

​​​​​​​We deliver a single system for independent, effective review of death certification to drive improvements in

  • quality and accuracy for medical certificates of cause of death
  • public health information
  • clinical governance.

An opportunity exists to apply your proven administration and customer support skills to provide our Death Certification Review Service with a comprehensive support service.

The post involves making contact by telephone with certifying doctors, funeral directors and other key personnel involved in Death Certificate reviews.  General administrative tasks include updating database/system records, financial data processing, organising meetings/events, diary management, minute taking, arranging travel and accommodation. 

The job provides assistance to a geographically dispersed team of Medical Reviewers, liaising with health professionals, bereavement services, registrar offices and funeral services across Scotland.   

In order to provide a professional administrative service, you should be educated to HNC level (or have equivalent experience in administration), possess effective communication skills with good attention to detail, developed in a similar administration support role. Strong interpersonal and organisational skills are essential, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the Death Certification Review Service, requiring a flexible and proactive approach.

*Extended periods of remote working may be required until March 2021 at the earliest. Further details will be given at interview.
