Vacancies have arisen in the Tayside Custody Healthcare and Forensic Medical Service for Forensic & Custody Healthcare Nurses. The service is implementing the recommendations of the CMO Task Force to support the Victims of Rape & Sexual Assault alongside delivering safe, effective, patient centred healthcare care in line with NHS Tayside Vision, Values and Aims, to the to those in Custody. The Dundee Custody Suite has seen an increase in those in custody many of whom have complex healthcare needs including unstable physical, mental health and substance misuse needs.
You will be required to assess patient’s needs, plan, implement and evaluate a programme of evidence-based care within management of minor illness and/or minor injuries framework and undertake the necessary training and development to attain and maintain levels of competency. We seek an applicant who can display good communication and interpersonal skills, who is committed, motivated and focused to deliver high quality safe and effective care to this complex patient group within this unique setting.
You should be a 1st Level Registered Nurse with extensive post registration experience at Band 5 and educated to or working towards degree level. You should have further evidence of further education / CPD in relevant area e.g. Minor Injury; Minor Illness; Nurse Prescribing; Psychiatry; Substance Misuse. As well as working autonomously you should be able to work as part of a team and have effective listening, interpersonal and time management skills. It is a requirement of this job that the postholder be able to travel across Tayside to support other Police Custody Centres.
You must be registered on Sub-part1: RNA or RNA Sub-part 2: RN2 of the NMC Register.

Hours of work are 37.5 hours per week which are worked on a 7 day rota system which includes dayshifts and nightshifts.
