NORTH REGION (ISLANDS) – STORNOWAY/BENBECULA (LOCATION CAN BE NEGOTIATED)

An opportunity has arisen for an Area Service Manager based in the North Region, as part of the Regional Team. The post is a substantive post and will cover the Islands Operational area of The Western Isles. The successful applicant will be based in the Western Isles.

This managerial post plays a critical role in the achievement of The Western Isles performance targets and the ongoing development of our continuous improvement agenda.  The post holder will assume a role within the management structure for the North Region. In addition, the post holder will be expected to provide management support at operational incidents as required and participate in the Regional On-Call arrangements. The post holder will also be required to support the role of Business Support for the north Region.

You should possess the drive and enthusiasm to deliver results within tight timeframes and have an understanding of the key issues and challenges facing the Ambulance Service.  It is essential that you possess excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, organisational and analytical skills along with the ability to effectively manage budgets and prioritise workloads.  You should be able to demonstrate strong leadership and have the ability to build, motivate, mentor and lead teams.

You should ideally have previous experience of stakeholder engagement and have been involved in managing projects.  Previous experience working as a first line manager, involvement in managing change, working with internal / external partners and implementing local delivery plans would be an advantage.  The achievement of or working towards a management qualification would also be advantageous.

You must be committed to improving quality and standards of care, have an openness to new organisational structures, procedures and technology and support cultural change.  You must also be IT literate and possess a driving licence.
