Job Title: Quality Lead

Grade: Band 7

Location: Western General Hospital

Contract Duration: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 per week

Salary Scale: £39,300 to £46,006 per annum

Applications are invited for a Quality Lead to join our department in the South East Scotland Genetics Service, Edinburgh. The fully UKAS accredited laboratory provides both regional and national Genetic Services and serves a population of 1.3 million. Applications are invited from Biological Sciences Postgraduates with a keen interest in and experience of quality management. Training in management skills is available where appropriate.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery and performance management of an effective and efficient Laboratory Quality Management System to ensure the Genetics Laboratory meets and maintains both regulatory and statutory accreditation requirements mandated by UKAS. They will work closely with the NHS Lothian Compliance Manager, the Head of the Genetics Laboratory and the Healthcare Science Manager for Gene Sciences to achieve this.

The lab is superbly equipped and forward thinking drawing from a strong technology development background. We use the latest technologies for patient testing including high density Microarray analysis, Next Generation Sequencing and also host the national Single Gene Pre-implantation Genetic Testing (PGT) service. We benefit from excellent links with key investigators in the Institute for Genetic and molecular Medicine (IGMM) which is collocated at the Western General hospital.
