Greater Glasgow Health Board is seeking to appoint a Clinical Scientist to act as a Radiation Protection Adviser and Medical Physics Expert within the Health Physics Service. The person appointed will contribute to radiation protection services provided by Health Physics to hospitals throughout the West and Borders of Scotland. They will be expected to hold an RPA certificate and will either already be appointed as MPE or to have the knowledge and experience to be appointed within an agreed period. The postholder will also be expected to hold an RWA certificate or work towards certification. The appointee will also be expected undertake duties in non-ionising radiation protection.
The appointee will join an experienced team of twelve physicists and five technicians in Health Physics. The Service provides radiation protection, diagnostic radiology physics and non-ionising radiation services to several Health Boards within the West and Borders of Scotland. The post offers the successful candidate an excellent opportunity to build on their experience in radiation protection within a group with a core expertise in all aspects of radiation protection.
Applicants should have a first or upper 2nd class honours degree in physical sciences and an MSc in medical physics or equivalent experience. They must be state registered as a Clinical Scientist and have extensive experience as a RPA and ideally also as an MPE in diagnostic radiology.
Glasgow is a vibrant city, which has a wealth of sporting and cultural opportunities on offer, including being home to several orchestras, and famous art galleries and museums. The city is close to the beautiful Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, Central Highlands and the west coast. There are excellent transport links with the rest of the UK and further afield.
