Applications are invited from qualified general practitioners who are included on the GMC practice register with a current license to practice or consultants who are on the GMC Speciality Register, for this position hosted by the Primary Care Contracts Team based at Waverley Gate, Edinburgh.
The successful candidate will be both a Referrals Advisor and provide a professional leadership role to other Referrals Advisors. Referrals Advisors work within a broad strategic framework, monitoring, interpreting and providing robust analysis of referrals at a local clinician, practice and locality level in both primary and secondary care within Lothian in order to support the effective signposting and transfer of high quality referrals to the most appropriate location.
The post holder in conjunction with GP, community, and secondary care colleagues, will develop new management and referral clinical pathways and where appropriate develop alternatives to outpatient referral and advice on demand management. He/she will maintain, edit, and develop SCI Gateway, the national electronic e-referral mechanism
Provide feedback to referrers, on the volume and quality of referrals made, identifying any outliers, and providing education and support where necessary. Applicants must be working with computer packages and be familiar with data analysis tools, SCI Gateway, MIDAS, TRAK, BOXI.
