An exciting opportunity has risen for a Student Wellbeing Liaison Officer within Ayrshire College. You will provide front line support to students who present with emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties. This will include assessing student’s needs, providing advice and support, short term self-help, liaison, self management and signposting to other services. You will assist staff and young people in relation to improving knowledge of mental health issues, building resilience, and organizational capacity (through training and development) within Ayrshire College to recognise and support mental health well-being. You will also engage with students as part of their programmes and where appropriate to provide input in preparation for future career opportunities.

You will be highly motivated, interested in the difficulties of students and be able to work flexibly as well as independently. Excellent communication, negotiating and inter-personal skills are essential.

You will be able to demonstrate experience in working with people with a wide range of emotional and mental health problems, and a clear understanding of how those problems can affect daily life and what can be done to try and mitigate this.

You must be a registered mental health nurse educated to degree level or equivalent with significant experience working in the field of mental health.

A car owner/driver is essential.

This post is a fixed term\ secondment opportunity through until 27th March 2022. Please seek your line managers approval initially if considering secondment to this position.
