The core purpose of the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service is to meet the transfusion needs of patients in Scotland. In support of this, the SNBTS Tissues, Cells and Advanced Therapeutics (TCAT) Directorate is committed to a programme that will enhance the service provided to NHS Scotland in both clinical and operational areas. This is achieved via the provision of a range of tissue, cell and advanced therapeutics to patients, whilst conducting research and development which is designed to support the strategic and operational priorities of the organisation, achieve high quality and impact and add value to broader NHS and Governmental objectives.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the SNBTS TCAT Directorate as a Quality Control Scientist. The successful candidate for this new post will be integral to all microbiological aspects of the Quality Control of a range of advanced therapeutics and pharmaceutical products manufactured by TCAT and external customers. The successful candidate will be expected to co-ordinate the routine work of the microbiology QC laboratory which includes sterility testing, environmental monitoring and process simulation testing. Candidates should be must be educated to honours degree level in Microbiology. In addition, the post holder must have demonstrable relevant experience in Quality Control and/or GMP manufacture of tissue and/or cellular therapy products.
