NHS Lothian is home to an award winning pharmacy service with a team of almost 500 experienced and skilled pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy support workers, analysts, nurses and clerical staff working together across a variety of roles, over multiple sites, all of whom are integral to providing safe and effective patient care.We’d love to welcome you to join our forward thinking Pharmacy Services Team.This is a newly created post and demonstrates our commitment to taking forward a service that is unique in Scotland in having achieved and maintained ISO9001for over 20 years; with recent reaccreditation to ISO9001 (2015) standards.

The successful candidate will work within an integrated team based in acute, mental health and community hospitals across Lothian and in GP practices in Primary Care. The pharmacy team also work closely with Community Pharmacy colleagues.

We are seeking to appoint a high calibre and credible individual who will provide strong leadership to contribute to taking forward the service. You must be a dynamic, innovative and motivated individual; passionate about clinical service delivery and improvement excellence in patient care and who shares our values. The post holder will be educated to Degree level or have equivalent operational management experience at a senior level, along with a detailed understanding of all aspects of performance management in NHS services. Candidates should have a proven ability to manage change and service development and possess budgetary control and project management skills and experience. The post holder will also be capable of working under pressure, prioritising to deadlines and multi-tasking. Good motivation, persuasion and planning skills are also essential. Your skills will have been developed in an NHS environment and you will bring energy and a resilient leadership style to the team. The post requires a high standard of communication, analysis, clear thinking and organisational skills and offers excellent opportunities for career development.
