Community Learning Disability Nurse (Ref: 37134)
Full Time – 37.5 hours per week
Band 7 - Salary Range £39,300 - £46,006 per annum
Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,895 per annum
Relocation Assistance of up to £8000 available
A vacancy has arisen for a motivated, creative and dynamic Community Learning Disability Nurse within Shetland. Based in Lerwick, the post covers the diversely differing communities across the islands that comprise the Shetland Isles. You will work as a key member of the multidisciplinary learning disability community health and social care team and as an autonomous practitioner with minimum support at times.
As Named Nurse, using a person centred approach, the post holder will undertake comprehensive assessment and provide expert clinical advice and direction on the management of individuals from 5 years and upwards with specialist or complex health needs relating to learning disability.
Excellent communication, organisational and people skills are required as is experience in working positively with other health and social care professionals, third sector agencies and care providers.
Registered Learning Disability Nurse is essential. Experience of positive behaviour intervention required. Car driver and vehicle essential.
- Work as a key member of the multidisciplinary learning disability community health and social care team and as an autonomous practitioner with minimum support at times.
- To provide a single-handed community learning disability nursing service to children and adults with a recognised learning disability and additional health needs requiring specialist input Shetland wide.
- Work with Primary Health Care Teams located throughout the islands.
- Work with Community Health and Social Care Adult Services who make up the wider Learning Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder Team and Shetland Islands Council Children Services.
- Liaise with and facilitate specialist learning disability support from NHS Grampian.
- When patient needs dictate, work with all services within the Gilbert Bain Hospital.
