An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Tayside’s Women’s Care Group for a Senior Charge Midwife to join and lead our friendly, supportive, and motivated Perth midwifery team.

The senior charge midwife in Perth will lead and manage the team of midwifery and support staff aligned to the Perth midwifery team. The team provides care for women through their pregnancy journey and intrapartum care in the freestanding birth unit in Perth and home births.
Our maternity service is on an exciting journey to implement full caseloading midwifery teams who will care for women at home, in our stand alone midwife led units and our consultant led unit. As Senior Charge Midwife your role is pivotal to the delivery of the care groups priority areas of work to meet the implementation of The best start: five-year plan for maternity and neonatal care.
You will be expected to ensure safe and effective care that enhances the patient experience and contributes to the delivery of organisational objectives. You will be able to demonstrate high professional standards of care and the ability to work within an effective multidisciplinary team setting.
You are required to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire enthuse and lead the midwifery team. You will be accountable for delivering on service provision, redesign and improvement to provide safe, effective, person centred care with the support of the Senior Midwife. You will be a dynamic, innovative, experienced midwife with a background in supporting change in the community setting and promoting safe, effective and woman centred care within a continuity model.
You will have extensive post–registration experience and demonstrate expert clinical and professional practice within the midwifery care setting. A passion for the ethos of midwifery led care is essential. You should also be able to demonstrate a commitment to your ongoing professional and personal development and education.

The hours of work are mainly Monday to Friday with an on call commitment for births at home and in the unit. You must have a full driving license.
You must be registered with the NMC as a Registered Midwife (RM).
