Applications are invited for a replacement full-time Consultant in Chemical Pathology or Metabolic Medicine based at University Hospital Crosshouse, to work alongside the existing team of one medical consultant and two clinical scientists. The postholder will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of Clinical Biochemistry services.
NHS Ayrshire and Arran provides a comprehensive range of high quality health services and healthcare to a population of almost 400,000. The department is a UKAS accredited laboratory in accordance with ISO15189:2012 standards and provides a workload of 600,000 requests per year. Further details are provided in the job description.
The Terms and Conditions of Service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004 and the post is offered on a full-time 10 programmed activity basis, although opportunities may exist for Extra Programmed Activities subject to service requirements. Applicants wanting to work less than full-time are also encouraged to apply including those who would prefer to work compressed or annualised hours.
Appropriately experienced applicants will hold Full GMC Registration with a current Licence to Practice, and must be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT or CESR at the date of interview. You must also possess FRCPath or equivalent, and have training and broad experience in Clinical Biochemistry and Lipidology.
