A Clinical Nurse Specialist is a registered nurse who has acquired additional specialist knowledge and experience. As well as having completed, or demonstrated the ability to complete, a primary degree you will have the skills and competencies required to manage a caseload within agreed boundaries and protocols in line with clinical governance. Entwined around this clinical core are ties of consultancy, teaching, management and research and its application. The Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist is an integral member of the team working as an autonomous practitioner to provide clinical care within a specialist service and unit, incorporating patient assessment, optimal treatment and discharge from care within various settings/ hospitals in the North East GG&C as the service requires. The Team Lead will possess substantial senior experience with a high level of interpersonal, managerial & leadership skills, creating a supportive ethos to ensure appropriate learning and developmental opportunities are met for all staff within the team. The nurse carries continuing responsibility and will be experienced in Staff Rotas management, financial budget control and formal absence review and ensures that the team works within regulated NMC policies. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurses on the NMC Register and that you have significant comprehensive post registration experience within a healthcare setting some of which must be at a senior practitioner level. You should have proven managerial and clinical skills in Gastroenterology Nursing. The shift pattern for this post is Monday – Friday with regular pageholder cover on late shifts.
