The Acute Sector of NHS Grampian provides a full range of acute care to the population of Grampian, as well as tertiary services to the north of Scotland, including the Islands of Orkney and Shetland. With an annual revenue budget of +£370M, and over 5000 staff across the whole range of professional disciplines, the Acute Sector has five divisions – Unscheduled Care, Medicine, Surgery, Women & Children, and Clinical Support Services, and is supported by the Operational and Business Support Division.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic divisional team, leading the USC agenda in NHSG on behalf of the organisation. This role will develop strong partnership working across the organisation, taking direct from the 4 Chief Officers. The Transformation Agenda is significant and challenging including the current Redesign of Urgent Care; the co-ordination of the Operation Home First; the continuation and development of the national 6 Essential Action Programme locally.

As a Divisional General Manager you will be a talented professional who has an outward looking, solutions based collegiate approach in ensuring the delivery of excellent health services to our patients, their families and carers. You will demonstrate commitment to service improvement to enhance quality, efficiency, effectiveness and safety at all times.
Key skills you will require include systems thinking; strategic awareness; excellent communication skills; strong track record of operational management successes; ability to recognise and seize opportunities to develop and improve services for patients and staff. Strong inspirational leadership, management and team working skills are essential to this role. You will have extensive experience of managing the delivery of complex and challenging multi-professional services in a large complex organisation. Extended experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-professional team, you will provide leadership and direction in the planning, management and provision of all divisional services within the context of Sector, NHS Grampian and Scottish Government objectives and ambitions. The postholder will be required to work in partnership with the Divisional Clinical Director and Divisional Chief Nurse and the wider health and care system leaders to ensure the delivery of the above.
