An opportunity has arisen within the Tayside Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Technology Centre for an experienced Assistive Technology (Wheelchairs and Seating) Technician in the highly specialised Electronic Assistive Technology Service (EATS) based at Ninewells Hospital.
The successful applicant will have significant experience as a rehabilitation technology engineering technician and an in-depth knowledge and skills relating to this specialist field. This must include design and manufacture of a wide range of complex wheelchair modifications, specialist seating systems and associated components such as mounting systems and complementary switching systems and electronic interfaces as required in Assistive Technology.
The Electronic Assistive Technology Service (EATS) is part of the overall Assistive Technology Service. It covers a range of specialised service areas for the population of Tayside with severe or complex disabilities. It involves the use of primarily commercial electronic systems which are then specifically mounted, configured and connected to customised switch and control interfaces.
The position is based in the Tayside Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Technology Centre. However, a significant part of the role involves surveys and installations in patient’s homes as well as carrying out repair and maintenance within the Centre workshop.
You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
