We have an exciting and challenging post within our small, enthusiastic Public Health Team which encompass: taking forward a programme of generic Public Health/Health Improvement work to support NHS Highland to deliver on national and local targets and priorities with a particular focus on smoking cessation; involvement in the development and delivery of learning and development programmes for all relevant staff and supporting the capacity of practitioners to deliver Public Health/Health Improvement activities.
Working collaboratively across all parts of NHS Highland’s organisational structure and partner agencies, this post will operate throughout the Inverness, Nairn and Badenoch & Strathspey area therefore the post holder must be able to travel around the area. The post will be based in Inverness.
You will have knowledge of health improvement and public health principles, including working with individuals and with communities. Knowledge of the current context of this agenda, including key national policy drivers and national and local priorities for health improvement would also be advantageous.
Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be competent in delivering training.
You will (of course) be excited about the rare opportunity to live and work in an area of such outstanding natural splendour offering scope for a range of recreational pursuits, but will also be aware of the impact that our geography and demographics have on our population’s health needs and on the way that we address these.
You will possess a SVQ level 4 or above in related health or social care and have a full driving license. Good knowledge of data analysis would be beneficial. Candidates should be willing to pursue registration through the Faculty of Public Health practitioner registration scheme.
