Advance your Career as a Psychological Therapist in Aberdeenshire.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Psychological Therapist/CBT Therapist to work in Primary Care Adult Mental Health in South/Central Aberdeenshire.

This post is primarily aimed at providing a service for adults with common mild to moderate mental health problems ( Tier 2) presenting in Primary Care. The post holder will join a growing team of Psychological Therapists and Wellbeing Workers based in various locations across Aberdeenshire. The posts are supported by clinical supervision and professional management from a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist at Royal Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen and will be line managed by Team Leaders and the Health & Social Care Partnership Locality Leadership Manager. Work will primarily be conducted within GP surgeries or other Primary Care health facilities. The post holder will provide a service within the Kincardine and Mearns Locality, South Aberdeenshire. .

The role will involve assessing and providing psychological therapy for patients with a range of mild to moderate mental health problems including depression and a range of anxiety disorders. These interventions will be in line with best practice as identified by The Matrix and will be delivered on a 1-1 basis as well as within groups. The Psychological Therapist will work closely with other Psychological Therapists in the team and will provide guidance support and potentially supervision for the Wellbeing Workers. There will also be an expectation that the post holder will develop strong links with Social Care and Third Sector partners. The post holder will have high level skills in psychological therapy, having obtained, for example, an MSc in Psychological Therapy in Primary Care or a PG Diploma in CBT (or equivalent, see Person Specification for more details).  Post qualification experience would be desirable but is not essential, providing their training has included substantial clinical placement practice. This post, which offers the opportunity to advance your career in an area of outstanding natural beauty, is based in the Westhill, Banchory and Torphins areas and is close to the Cairngorms and Aberdeen, a lovely granite city set on stunning coastline populated by dolphins. For those with family Aberdeen boasts some of the best schools in Scotland whilst the local economy provides a range of job opportunities for partners. Aberdeen is situated in the North East of Scotland but with an easily accessible airport just fifteen minutes from the city centre it is no problem to stay connected to the whole of the UK and beyond.
