CONSULTANT in PAEDIATRICS WITH AN INTEREST IN RENAL MEDICINE

NHS Tayside are delighted to advertise the post of Consultant Paediatrician with an interest in Renal Medicine.

The post holder will join the Paediatric Consultant team providing secondary and tertiary level paediatric services to children in Tayside. The post holder will be part of the general paediatric team but will have an important role in the both the children’s renal service locally and in collaboration with tertiary Paediatric Nephrology services provided by the Royal Children’s Hospital, Glasgow, under the auspices of the Scottish Paediatric Renal and Urology Network.

There are currently approximately 50 new cases referred to the renal service annually and there are a small number of post-transplant patients who require more intensive input. There are currently 8 joint clinics per year with a tertiary renal consultant.

The post holder will supervise the inpatient care of renal patients with input from the ward team and Consultant of the Week. They will be expected to link with the urology team when needed.

The successful candidate will also be expected to work closely with the consultant who leads the Bladder and Bowel service. They will jointly oversee the Bladder scanning service and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring service.

The service also has the support of 1 WTE renal specialist nurse.

This post also includes general paediatrics which will consist of 2 PAs per week on the second tier rota. These will out of hours resident sessions covering weekday evenings, weekend days and nights. There will also be one session of rheumatology.

The successful applicant will join a team of enthusiastic paediatricians based in Tayside Children’s Hospital and Communities Services.
