Hours: Full and part time available.

Working in Critical Care offers the opportunity to work within a team and follow a fixed rota pattern consisting of both day and night shifts.  That rota can be adapted to meet the needs of the service and successful candidates who would prefer an adjusted shift pattern.

Location: Critical Care, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Aberdeen

You are invited to join us at an exciting time in the history of Critical Care in Aberdeen.  We are a designated major trauma and ECMO centre – the only Scottish hospital to deliver both these services.

We have amalgamated our medical HDU and Intensive Care unit into a much larger and more flexible Critical Care Team and due to this evolving service, we have opportunity to recruit into band 6 staff nurse positions.

Successful candidates will help us manage a large team of staff and to deliver our vision of world class, quality focused critical care for our local population.  We are passionate about what we do and the patients we serve.

As a highly motivated Band 6 nurse you will have an excellent opportunity to develop yourself further in mentoring/supporting colleagues, contributing to key projects, shift management, performing staff appraisals and acting as coordinator within the various ICU ‘pods’.
You will be expected to follow the Band 6 Development Plan.

The successful applicants will have an interest in the ECMO service and will wish to undertake further training that will allow them to function as part of the ECMO delivery team.

Patients within Scotland for ECMO, are retrieved by a mobile team from this department and transferred back to Aberdeen for ongoing care.

The ECMO service is delivered by a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of expert staff who have developed our service over the past 15 years. Aberdeen has a platinum award for ECMO service delivery, one of only 20 centres around the world to achieve this.

Applicants must be able to present evidence of advanced critical care skill development, successful teaching / mentoring contributions, and significant contributions to departmental projects.

You will have successfully completed a relevant post basic course (e.g. ITU Course) and preferably have completed a degree in nursing.

Become a vital part of our fantastic team delivering high quality, patient-centered, evidence-based care for the half-million people who live in Grampian.

Join our team and we will invest in you with the education and development you need to develop your career and our service.
An attractive relocation allowance of up to £8,000 is available to successful candidates.
