Spiritual Care Lead

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced person to have responsibility for leading and managing the ongoing development and delivery of spiritual care and pastoral services and volunteer services across NHS Golden Jubilee. You will be responsible for leading the service in accordance with our Spiritual and Pastoral Care Policy, which embraces a broad role of both religious and spiritual care for patients, visitors, staff and volunteers, regardless of faith, belief and/or life stance.

You will: 

• Lead the development of the Spiritual and Pastoral Care service across NHS GJ and establish the long-term strategy for Spiritual & Pastoral Care so as to ensure its ongoing delivery.
• Ensure facilities for spiritual and religious care comply with Scottish Government guidelines and that data protection legislation is not contravened. 
• Deal sensitively and effectively with possible contentious issues in the interface between healthcare and faith/belief groups, their practices and expectations
• Support the work of the Diversity and Inclusion group to oversee and support activity relating to the delivery of the Boards equality and diversity activity.
• Develop and audit the implementation of the spiritual and pastoral care policy and action plan and ensure results are included in the spiritual and pastoral care report
• Support the development of an ethos of care, which recognises the importance of a supportive and values-based environment for staff, in order for them to provide the desired holistic care of patients and carers’
• Progress and develop further understanding and appreciation of the role of spirituality in healthcare at a local and national level through research, publications and participation in workshops and conferences

Skills required:

• Registration with appropriate regulatory body.
• Educated to degree level.
• Must have a knowledge base of different religions and faiths and the ability to work harmoniously in an ecumenical and interfaith environment.
• Experience of leading and delivering recognised religious ceremonies and practices, preferably including those relevant to a healthcare environment.
• Demonstrate evidence of commitment to the need for, and ability to promote, diversity and inclusion.  Specifically, the post holder should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the Single Equality Act 2010 and how this must be implemented.
• Experience in making presentations, teaching or group facilitation.
