This is a Unique role as Paediatric Visual Impairment specialist Nurse sits within Specialist children’s services and will work across GGC. You will work within a Multi- disciplinary team to support Children, young people and their parents who are undergoing assessment and diagnosis for Visual Impairment. You will work across the 6 HSCPs within Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health board. This nursing role is one of ongoing child development and health supports developing therapeutic relationships with families to support improved health outcomes and wellbeing/ development of the child. This will be done alongside community agencies to support improved health outcomes for these children specifically for Visual impairment needs. You will work alongside education, social work, 3rd sector as well as colleagues in Acute Child settings. You will be Registered Nurse who has enhanced knowledge, experience and skills in child development and disability; will require health assessment and excellent communication skills to engage with those stakeholders identified inclusive of family engagement. Experience in working in a community setting and in being autonomous practitioner is essential. Visual Impairment knowledge is desirable and the ability to priority manage caseload and commitments. Travel across the board to attend Visual Impairment review groups/ VI clinics will be required as well as community Home visits to children and families for support & education.  The shift pattern for this post is between Monday – Friday.


This is a Fixed term post 18 months.
