As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
We are looking for a NMC/HCPC Registered practitioner to join our SNBTS Transfusion Team to develop and lead our education strategy. You will work with colleagues across SNBTS patient services as required as well as the wider SNBTS transfusion team. You should be able to work with limited supervision and demonstrate flexibility in delivering the requirements of the post. Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to adopt a flexible and proactive approach to problem solving is required to promote and champion the national education programme at all levels. Candidates should have experience in a blood transfusion, haematology or related specialty.
Candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent experience and hold a relevant educational qualification such as the Post Graduate certificate in Education or be willing to undertake relevant post graduate study. Extensive transfusion experience and education expertise must be demonstrated by the post holder. You will be required to travel between NHS sites and wider in order to fully undertake all the duties associated with the post and as such a valid driving licence is desirable. The post-holder will be responsible for developing and implementing both internal and external programmes of transfusion education. There is a requirement to represent SNBTS TT at internal and external national groups as well as providing subject matter expertise for the Learnbloodtransfusion national digital education programme delivered throughout the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure check. Any candidate who has worked overseas for more than 3 months will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
