The Sexual Health Nurse will be a member of the specialist nursing team and is responsible for the management of patients with a range of complex needs, requiring high-level nursing interventions such as assessment, testing and treatment for sexual infection or blood borne virus, provision of very long acting contraception and interventions designed to reduce risk of harm and the provision of skilled technical interventions, e.g. intra-uterine devices. You will be responsible for the management and treatment of clients diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection or blood borne virus and any contacts. You will work independently and autonomously without supervision and be responsible for delegating and reviewing the work of his/her team/others. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Adult or Mental Health Nurse with the NMC and that you have evidence of contraceptive and sexual infection knowledge. it is essential that you have or are working towards competence in Sub dermal contracetive implant device fitting and removal and intra-uterine contraceptive device fitting. It would be desirable if you have a current driving licence. The shift pattern for this post is Monday - Friday 8.30am - 8.00pm.
