The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is a large teaching hospital with an established reputation for offering the best practice across a wide variety of specialist services.
We are looking for a suitably qualified, highly motivated and proactive Pharmacy Technician to join our ward based technician team across a variety of clinical areas. You will be working as part of a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, supporting delivery of the clinical pharmacy service within each specialty ensuring the safe and effective supply of medicines to patients, including extended roles such as discharge planning and technician referral tools.
You will possess an NC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent, SVQ level 3 or equivalent, and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. An HNC in Pharmacy Services and a Pharmacy Dispensary Checking Technician (PDCT) qualification is required.
Candidates who do not meet all of the essential criteria can apply as a trainee (Annex U). As a trainee your pay is determined as a percentage of pay for qualified staff, in accordance with Annex U of the Agenda for Change terms and conditions. The training will be spread over a period of 1 – 3 years from appointment to post.
During this training period you must complete and pass a Dispensary Checking Technician (PDCT) qualification and an HNC Pharmacy Services Development and Management to fullfill the essential requirements for the post. On completion of your training your salary will be in accordance with the Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions of service handbook.
You will be required to participate in the weekend and public holiday service working rota at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
