Due to internal promotion there is an opportunity to join a progressive department situated in the central belt of Scotland. We are seeking a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists with IBMS Specialist portfolio in Medical Microbiology and further MSc level qualification who will contribute to development of the service. We provide a comprehensive Microbiology service to clinicians throughout the NHS Fife with an extensive Scope of Accreditation (UKAS :ISO15189)
We are looking for a conscientious individual who is a skilled team player to work in this busy progressive department.
The department has an annual workload of approximately 230,000 specimens and workforce of 47 staff members. The department is divided into 3 sections: bacteriology comprising bacterial culture, antibiotic sensitivity, Containment Level 3 operation with Parasitology, Andrology and Mycology with Environmental testing Molecular (bacteria and virus) and Serology (comprising bacterial and viral serology. The post involves extended working day, weekend and public holidays as required by the department, and participation in the out-of-hours on-call service.
Band 7 Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist: Applicants must be HCPC registered, have specialist portfolio with an advanced educational qualification at Masters level and current experience working in Microbiology (band 6 or 7).
We want to hear about your laboratory IT skills, knowledge and understanding of quality management of process accredited under ISO 15189 and experience of training others as well as your experience managing staff and organising improvement projects
Active participation in CPD and opportunities for further personal development are encouraged and supported.
Participation in weekend and on call rota is required.
