Job Advert
I would like to draw your attention to an exciting opportunity to come and work in NHS Highland!
We are looking for an enthusiastic Principal Clinical Scientist (Band 8B) to join our friendly and dynamic biochemistry team (1 Consultant Medical Biochemist and 1 Consultant Clinical Scientist) based in Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. You will help provide the biochemistry service for the Highlands of Scotland (an area bigger than the size of Belgium), including the remote and rural laboratories in Fort William and Wick, and the post will involve travel once a month to a rural site.
We are accredited as a network to UKAS ISO 15189. Major changes on the horizon include new equipment, order comms, and expansion of electronic referral test reporting (NPEX) and POCT - creating opportunities for projects around service delivery, re-design, demand optimisation and verification. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an area of specialist interest for example development of dynamic function testing and reporting in conjunction with the Endocrine MDT.
You must be HCPC registered (Clinical Biochemist). For appointment at AfC 8B we are looking for someone with 4-5 years' experience and Part 1 FRCPath. We will provide support towards Part 2. Consideration will be given to appoint under AfC annex 21 for candidates who do not meet the full person specification for Band 8B.
This is a rare opportunity to live and work in the Scottish Highlands, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Highlands offer a high quality of life, rich in culture, amazing leisure opportunities and breath-taking landscapes. Relocation expenses may be available.
