Lorn and Islands Hospital is recruiting an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to complement our current small team. The post is full time and includes rotational day/night shift across 7 days.
Oban is situated on the idyllic west coast of Scotland. The Hospital is located on the southern outskirts of Oban and forms a hub for both acute and community services within the area. Purpose built in 1995, the hospital has the full range of facilities expected in a rural general hospital, including 24 hour medical, surgical, anaesthetic and laboratory services. It also has a well-equipped radiology department including CT and fluoroscopy, with on-site consultant radiologists. There is no ITU but we have a 4 bedded mixed HDU and Coronary Care. Critically ill patients requiring a higher level of care are transferred with help from the Emergency Medical Retrieval service.
The post holder will work autonomously, to provide high quality, safe and supportive clinical and emergency care for patients, providing leadership, clinical support and advice to nursing and junior medical staff. The post holder will also have site management responsibilities out of hours. The post holder will be required to undertake advanced physical assessment of adults within the Hospital and provide immediate treatment or refer to appropriate medical staff and according to priority.
This is a very varied job working across all specialities within a Rural General Hospital with lots of interesting aspects of both clinical practice and educational learning.
