NHS Shetland Community Nursing Service provides nursing care and support to all residents and visitors to Shetland both within the home and within health and care environments across remote and island communities.

In line with the new GP contract, we are transforming how we deliver General Practice Nursing and are looking for experienced General Practice Nurses eager to embrace the changes in the nursing role as we move forward and develop these roles to meet our community’s future needs.

We can offer you the opportunity to live and work in Unst, the most northerly island of the United Kingdom, or be based on the Shetland mainland providing care for the communities of Brae and Scalloway.

Please note for the Unst position that there is a requirement that you participate as part of the wider nursing team in the provision of an out of hours nursing service for urgent/emergency calls.

In return for your skills and expertise we can offer; substantive NHS Health Board employment contracts, a supportive network of General Practice Nurses, access to regular training and development and the opportunity to manage your own nursing team.

If you are interested in being part of our future and do not already work in a General Practice setting, we can support your development to enable you to gain the appropriate knowledge and skills.   Appointments made at this level would be at Band 5 until successful completion of the required training to become a General Practice Nurse.

If this sounds like the opportunity you were looking for, come and join our already successful team, we’d love to work with you!

If you want to know more about any of the opportunities we have available for you in our team
