MEDICAL APPRAISER - GP (Part Time)
(4 hours) per week
Sessional Rate: £9,513 per annum
(based on Grade AA01 – Associate Adviser Payscale)
NHS Forth Valley would welcome applications from interested parties who will be committed to delivering GP Appraisal to those GPs registered on the NHS Forth Valley Performers List ensuring appropriate revalidation and continued registration on the GMC and GP Register for the purpose of maintaining their Licence to Practice.
As part of the Forth Valley team of Appraisers successful candidates will conduct appraisals in accordance with the requirements of the Scottish GP Appraisal Framework.
Applicants should be credible with the local medical profession; self motivated, self directed with the ability to work independently or as part of a team; be competent in the use of Microsoft packages and have the ability to write clear succinct reports.
Applicants must hold a Certificate of Prescribed Experience for JCPTGP or equivalent and be registered on the GMC and General Practitioner Registers. A minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience and current activity in providing general medical services in a GP practice setting or within three years retirement from that clinical activity are essential.
Excellent communication, listening and organisational skills are essential together with a good knowledge of the requirements of the GP contract and clinical governance are essential. Effective supportive and feedback skills with sensitivity to issues and matters of confidentiality and a facilitative style of working will support the ability to deal constructively with those less willing to engage in appraisal. Evidence of recent continued academic and professional development.
It is a requirement that all applicants meet the criteria for joining the NHS Forth Valley Performers List. Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Forth Valley area is essential for this post.
