As a Community Addictions Psychiatric Staff Nurse working within the East Ayrshire Community Addiction Team based at Lister Street, University Hospital Crosshouse you will provide cover for same day next day screening and assessments for a rapid access to treatment service “No Wrong Door” service. You will also screen all referrals to the service and signpost to most appropriate service (i.e. Addiction Services, ACA {Ayrshire Council on Alcohol} or We Are with You {formerly Addaction}). Responsible for ensuring allocation for same day next day assessment you will use current systems (SAMS, Care Partner) and use recognised assessment tools (ARAF, ICP) whilst updating waiting times and any alcohol brief interventions given. When not on rota for this service you will be expected to manage a caseload of complex clients with alcohol or substance use issues.

A first level Registered Nurse in Mental Health with previous experience of working in the field of Addictions or have addiction related experience with co-morbid mental health issues you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team and the wider MDT, including Third Sector Partners. You will deliver specialist assessment and treatment in the community or in-patient detoxification, opiate substitution therapy (O.S.T.) and recovery focused interventions to service users with complex addiction and mental health issues. You will be familiar with recording systems with Ayrshire and Arran i.e. Care Partner. Able to demonstrate the ability to manage your own caseload as well as your day to day diary commitments effectively and efficiently is essential.

This is a fixed term post until 30 November 2022.

Hours: 37.5 per week, 9am to 5pm.
