As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist within the Speech and Language Therapy Adult Service in North Ayrshire based at Douglas Grant Rehab Centre, Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine, you will support the rehabilitation of patients who have experienced major neurological trauma, in our new Level 2 Rehabilitation Unit which forms part of the West of Scotland Major Trauma Network, as well as the existing Neuro In-patient Ward within Douglas Grant Rehabilitation Ward.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to and learn from a well-established programme of research and development. You will possess excellent communication and organisational skills; have the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a specialist team. You will have a broad range of Speech and Language Therapy experience in managing a complex neurological communication and dysphagia caseload. As the Major Trauma In-patient ward will be a new addition to our service in 2021, applicants should have knowledge of service development or quality improvement methodology.
You will be expected to provide clinical support to students as well as supervising the work of assistants and band 5 SLT’s
You must hold a University degree, certificate to practice from HCPC and have a postgraduate qualification in Dysphagia, membership of Royal college Of Speech and language Therapists is desirable.
Regular support and supervision and opportunities to enhance skills will be provided in line with Turas.
You will be given the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills and will have access to recognized, evidence-based training programs as well as local training opportunities.
Car availability for work purposes and a valid UK license is essential for this post.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 10 months.
