Dietitians are health professionals, whose key role is to translate the science of nutrition into relevant and practical information, based on clinical evidence. The role of Community Dietitians comprises of 3 broad functions: clinical treatment, health improvement and support and training of others to ensure consistent up-to-date nutrition messages. The following principles guide their work: build on existing knowledge and skills through Continuing Professional Development (CPD) which incorporates evidence based practice, liaise and involve the community at all stages; facilitate and empower the individuals in the change process.
The successful applicant will join a friendly and enthusiastic community dietetic team in the West Quadrant of NHS GG&C, and will assist in the:
- planning and provision of an evidence based Dietetic Service to patients and carers, medical, nursing and AHP staff based on National and local priorities.
- supervision, teaching, mentoring of student dietitians, dietetic /team assistants and clerical staff.
- planning and delivery of education and training for health care professionals. This training covers detailed, broad ranging topical nutritional issues covering the entire life cycle
- local organising and delivery of the Health Improvement activity.
- further development of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service.
A BSc in Human Nutrition & Dietetics and HCPC registration is essential
