NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest employer in Scotland. Our IT Applications service delivers 100s of IT applications ranging from 25,000 user systems (such as TrakCare, Clinical Portal) and West of Scotland regional systems (such as Chemotherapy) to smaller departmental and clinical systems. Our IT Applications teams cover service delivery; training; user support; technical support; programmes, projects and business analysis; and development of in-house applications and integrations. We have an exciting few years ahead with significant upgrades of key systems and supporting paper-light and paper-less clinical working. This role, within our third line applications technical services team, is to fill a vacancy. A Senior Applications Support Analyst is needed to deliver technical support for databases, applications operations and integrations; and to provide support services to second line teams. Key technologies include Microsoft SQL and IIS based applications (from single server instances to enterprise clusters), InterSystems Cache and Ensemble based applications, Rhapsody and Ensemble integration engines. This post will be based at Westward House, Paisley. You should have both theoretical and practical experience of IT systems gained through a relevant degree or diploma or equivalent practical experience. You should have significant experience in the specification and support of IT applications within a complex environment, and be proficient in the role of IT applications support and service delivery. You should have certifications in database / server technologies and experience with large-scale SQL based systems. The successful candidate should also have the following Behavioural Competencies, able to resolve complex problems working under a high pressure situation, able to communicate clearly about technical solutions and problems with non-technical users, work closely with other Infrastructure staff and 3rd parties and collaborate with project teams, able to represent the team at meetings involving senior infrastructure managers and non-eHealth staff, exposure to IT within the Health Service would be advantageous. The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm.
